Dimitris Dalakoglou

Dimitris Dalakoglou was born in Athens. He is Professor of Social Anthropology at Vrije University Amsterdam. He has been working ethnographically in the borders and urban spaces of the Balkans and Greece since 2003. In 2017 he was awarded an NWO Vidi grant for his project “Infra-Demos” studying infrastructural participation in Greece of crisis. In 2012 he was awarded an ESRC Future Research Leaders grant for his project “Crisis-Scapes,” studying public urban spaces in Athens. He has co-produced five mini-documentary films and he has occasionally taken and developed his own black and white photos since 2001.
