Nicholas Copeland

Nicholas Copeland is a political anthropologist and Assistant Professor of American Indian Studies and Sociology at Virginia Tech. He is coauthor of The World of Walmart: Discounting the American Dream (2013) and sole author of the forthcoming book The Democracy Development Machine: Neoliberalism, Radical Pessimism, and Authoritarian Populism in Mayan Guatemala. His current research explores indigenous and peasant environmental politics in Guatemala.
