Chika Watanabe

Chika Watanabe is Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in Social Anthropology at the University of Manchester. She's the author of Becoming One: Religion, Development, and Environmentalism in a Japanese NGO in Myanmar (University of Hawai'i Press, 2019), and several articles on development, NGOs, and aid work. Her current project examines the international cooperation around disaster preparedness between Japan and Chile, focusing in particular on "playful" methods with children.
