According to Timothy Ingold, the distinguishing feature of anthropology is our capacity and willingness to "work with" others rather than merely study them or even learning from them. This panel will explore the ontological, epistemological, and ethical issues involved in “working with” people. We will explore the various kinds of worlds that are produced by our own practices and methodologies - what kinds of relationships are built and what kinds of relationships could be built through those practices? Panelists will be asked to reflect on their own connections with others - both in the field and at home - and discuss alternative and novel approaches to working with others in all aspects of anthropological work.
