In the Colombian Caribbean, the ghostly presence of the now-defunct Ingenio Central Colombia (1909-1953) is unearthed by the stories of the elders and the paintings of a primitivist artist. In the plantation complex, César Villa Gutiérrez claims his right to look. In his approach, he initiates a creative archive that reveals the hidden history of the forgotten workers of the Ingenio. Confronting the official history, he uncovers the remnants of slavery, Cuban colonization, and ethnic whitening.
