Call for Applications
The Society for Cultural Anthropology is pleased to accept applications for its 2023-2025 Lead Contributing Editor (CE). The Lead CE serves for two years, with the possibility of renewal for an additional year, at the discretion of the SCA board. The Lead CE serves as the manager of the SCA Contributing Editor program, a dynamic digital content initiative spearheaded by 50+ early career scholars. As part of their volunteer duties, the society’s Lead Contributing Editor also collaborates with the Graduate Student Representative to deliver a series of professional development workshops for SCA Contributing Editors and student members.
We are looking for a graduate student with a demonstrated passion for service to a vibrant academic community with a public, global reach. Those applying for the position should have served for at least two years as either a Contributing Editor or Section Editor. Priorities for the 2023-2025 term will include:
- Overseeing a new call for Contributing Editors
- Developing training and professionalization opportunities for current CEs
- Collaborating with the SCA Digital Curatorial Collective
- Creating programming for SCA’s graduate student members
The Lead Contributing Editor is more than a service position. As a voting member of SCA’s Executive Board, the Lead CE helps shape the direction of one of the American Anthropological Association’s most innovative, largest sections. The Lead CE develops professional relationships with SCA board members and gains leadership experience managing a large, complex volunteer program. Lead CEs are also provided reimbursement up to $750/year for travel to AAA’s annual meeting for 2024 and 2025.
Applicants should submit a CV and brief cover letter describing their interest in the position and prior involvement with the Contributing Editor Program to Eleana Kim ([email protected]) and Anand Pandian ([email protected]) by November 8, 2023.
