Luiz Costa is Associate Professor in the Department of Cultural Anthropology and the Graduate Program in Sociology and Anthropology at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. He has been carrying out ethnographic fieldwork with the Kanamari of southwestern Amazonia since 2002. He is the author of The Owners of Kinship: Asymmetrical Relations in Indigenous Amazonia.
