Trained in philosophy at Sofia University in Bulgaria, Savina Petkova then completed a Master's in Film Studies at University College London. Her research interests concern animal representation in contemporary European cinema, as well as animal metamorphoses in popular culture. Her film criticism has been published in MUBI Notebook, Electric Ghost Magazine, and Photogénie.
