M. Yunus Rafiq currently holds a position as an assistant professor of anthropology at NYU Shanghai. Rafiq’s research centers on faith-based actors in Tanzania, especially how they are mobilized for health services governance in rural areas. His recent research extends his work on human faith-based intermediaries into the non-human domain by examining how information communication technologies (ICT) such as text-messages are used to increase knowledge and use of maternal and child health services in urban centers of Tanzania.
