Samar Kanafani

Samar Kanafani is a social and urban anthropologist. She is co-founder of the Ethnography and Knowledge Collective, which explores fieldwork methodology in turbulent times and reflects on engaged ethnography in the Arab region. Her own research has focused on the tactics of dwelling under precarious conditions of forced migration, gentrification and material urban decay in Lebanon. Her current research is on informal commoning practices and commons revivalism within conditions of capture and enclosure in (post)colonial contexts.
