Yasmine Khayyat is an Associate Professor of Arabic and Comparative Literature in the Department of African, Middle East, South Asian Languages and Literatures (AMESALL) at Rutgers University. Her first book, War Remains: Ruination and Resistance in Lebanon, published by Syracuse University Press in 2023, examines the figuration of the ruin as a site of protest and resistance in contemporary Lebanese cultural production. Khayyat’s publications have appeared in the Journal of Arabic Literature, Middle Eastern Literatures, Critical Inquiry, the Journal of Middle East Women’s Studies, and Human Organization, among others.
