Vanessa Grotti is Associate Professor of Anthropology in the Department of Cultural Heritage, University of Bologna. She works on kinship & reproduction, with a particular focus on relations and encounters of care, within medical institutions and beyond. Recent books include Nurturing the Other: First Contacts and the Making of Christian Bodies in Amazonia (Berghahn, 2022) and Migrant Hospitalities in the Mediterranean: Encounters with Alterity in Birth and Death (co-edited with Marc Brightman, Palgrave, 2021).
